Vulnerability Description
A remote code execution vulnerability was reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to visit a malicious HTML document. Successful exploitation of this issue may lead to a remote code execution on the affected system.

Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due to a memory corruption error in Microsoft Internet Explorer when rendering HTML documents with certain layout combinations. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML document. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to execute remote code on the affected system.

Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability. Depending on the traffic mix, activating this protection may result in performance degradation.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1/InterSpect product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the SmartDefense tab, click Web Intelligence > HTTP Client Protections > Microsoft Internet Explorer Vulnerabilities > Block HTML Rendering Memory Corruption Vulnerability (MS08-010).
2. In the configuration pane, under Settings > Mode, check Active.
3. Install policy on all modules.
