Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to an error in the TSM service that fails to sufficiently validate user supplied values in a message. A remote attacker may exploit this flaw to create a denial of service condition via specially crafted backup message. Successful exploitation will terminate the affected service and may allow execution of arbitrary code on the vulnerable system. |
Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block malformed TSM client messages sent to the vulnerable service.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway/VPN-1 product to the latest IPS/SmartDefense update. For information on how to update IPS/SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
