Vulnerability Description
A memory corruption vulnerability has been reported in Adobe Reader and Acrobat.
Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due to an error while loading specially crafted BMP image resources from a PDF file. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by enticing a target user to open a malicious PDF file with an affected version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected system.

Protection Overview
IPS will detect and block the transferring of specially crafted PDF files.

No update is required to address this vulnerability

Users are protected against this vulnerability if the Adobe Reader Image Texture BMP File Memory Corruption (APSB11-24) protection found in the Protection section of CPAI-2011-421 has been applied.

How Can I Protect My Network?

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Adobe Reader Image Texture BMP File Memory Corruption (APSB11-24) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
