Who is Vulnerable? EMC AlphaStor 4.0 prior to build 910
Vulnerability Description Multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities has been reported in EMC AlphaStor Library Control Program (LCP).
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerabilities are due to missing bounds check while copying request data into fixed length stack buffers. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit these vulnerabilities to cause denial of service or execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected service. Successful exploitation can result in overwrite critical data saved on the stack, such as saved function return addresses and SEH structures.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the EMC AlphaStor Library Control Program Multiple Buffer Overflows protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
