Who is Vulnerable? EMC AlphaStor 4.0 prior to build 814
Vulnerability Description A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in EMC AlphaStor Device Manager. The vulnerability is due to a lack of boundary checking when processing certain opcode messages in rrobotd.exe. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code in the security context of the Device Manager process.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the EMC AlphaStor Device Manager Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
