Novell Client for Windows version 4.91 and prior
Vulnerability Description
A buffer overflow vulnerability has been discovered in Novell NetWare client. Novell NetWare is a network operating system for Microsoft Windows and Linux workstations/servers. The flaw is due to a boundary error in Novell NetWare client's Spooler service (nwspool.dll). Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due to an error in Novell NetWare client's Spooler service (nwspool.dll) that fails to properly handle long arguments passed to the 'OpenPrinter' or 'EnumPrinters' functions. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by specially crafting a malicious RPC request and sending it to the Print Spooler RPC interface of an affected system. Successful exploitation may allow remote code execution.

Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block malformed RPC requests.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1/InterSpect product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.
