Vulnerability Description
A denial of service vulnerability was identified in Novell eDirectory. Novell eDirectory is a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory-based identity management system that centralizes the management of user identities, access privileges and many other network resources. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to create a denial of service condition on a target system.

Update to version 8.8.2 or apply eDirectory 8.7.3 sp10:

Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due an error in Novell eDirectory when processing 'Connection' headers in HTTP requests. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted HTTP request to a target server. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to cause a denial of service condition on the affected service.

Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block malformed HTTP requests sent to the vulnerable service.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1/InterSpect/Connectra product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

4. In the configuration pane, under Settings, check Active.
5. Click on Install Policy.
