Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to an error in Internet Explorer that fails to properly validate parameters made during a method call in the browser. An attacker can trigger this flaw by convincing a user to view a specially crafted HTML document. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. |
Protection Overview
By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability. IPS-1 will detect and block the 'Navigate' ActiveX methods that may cause memory corruption in ActiveX. Depending on the traffic mix, activating this protection may result in performance degradation.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your VPN-1 product to the latest SmartDefense update. For information on how to update SmartDefense, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
