Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to an error in Microsoft Word that fails to properly handle Word files. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted Word 6 file that includes a malformed SPRM record. Successful exploitation of this issue may corrupt system memory allowing execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. |
Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malformed Word files over HTTP.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
