| Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the Microsoft Indexing Service. The Microsoft Windows Indexing Service is a base service that extracts content from files and constructs an indexed catalog to facilitate efficient and rapid searching. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted Web page. Successful exploitation could result in execution of arbitrary code on the affected system. |

Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is caused by an ActiveX component that is included with the Indexing service that does not properly handle specially crafted Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). A remote attacker could exploit this issue by convincing a user to visit a malicious Web page. Successful exploitation of this issue could allow remote code execution on the affected system. |
