Vulnerability Description
A stack buffer overflow exists in IBM Informix Dynamic Server Database. Informix is a family of relational database management system (RDBMS) products by IBM. IBM Informix Dynamic Server is an online transaction processing data server. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

Upgrade to the latest version of Informix Dynamic Server (IDS):
ibm-ids-oninit-bo (62619)
Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is caused by insufficient checks within a logging function of the oninit.exe process. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted SET EXPLAIN command to a target server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05Protection tab and select the version of your choice. 

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections > By Protocol > IPS Software Blade > Application Intelligence > Database Protections.
2. In the right pane, double-click the IBM Informix Dynamic Server oninit.exe EXPLAIN Stack Buffer Overflow protection.
3. In the Protection Details window, click on Edit. Choose the protection's Action (Override IPS Policy with: Prevent/Detect), and apply Additional Settings
4. Install policy on all modules.
