Vulnerability Description
A denial of service (DoS) vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS). HIS is a gateway application that provides host access and integration, extending Microsoft Windows to other systems by integrating mission-critical host applications, data sources, messaging and security systems. Specifically, the issue exists in the application's snabase.exe component, an add-on of Microsoft's BizTalk Enterprise Service Business Suite. Microsoft BizTalk is an enterprise application for integration of applications, trading partners and processes. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may lead to a DoS condition, causing the server to become unresponsive.

Vulnerability Details
This is a denial of service vulnerability. The vulnerability is due to an input validation error while handling certain packets. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by sending specially crafted packets to the affected target server.

Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block attempts to transfer specially crafted packets to the server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

How Can I Protect My Network?
1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Host Integration Server (HIS) snabase.exe Memory Access Error protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
2. Install policy on all modules.
