Who is Vulnerable?
A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in DNS servers.
The vulnerability is due to the way that the DNS server improperly handles objects in memory. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted DNS ANY query to a DNS server. Successful exploitation would cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition.
IPS will detect and block specially crafted DNS queries sent to the server.
