Vulnerability Description
A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC).

Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the way MDAC processes specially crafted XML code. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by enticing a target user to open a specially crafted web page using Internet Explorer. Successful exploitation will allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, with the same user rights of the target user.

How Can I Protect My Network?

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Data Access Components ADO Cachesize Heap Overflow (MS12-045) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.

How Can I Protect My Network?

  1. In the IPS-1 Policy Manager, click on the Protection tab.
  2. In the Protection tree, click Application Intelligence > HTML , and select the Internet Explorer protection group.
  3. Click "Microsoft Data Access Components ADO Cachesize Heap Overflow (MS12-045)".
  4. In the configuration pane, under Settings, check Active.
  5. Click on Install Policy.
