|Who is Vulnerable?||Windows XP Service Pack 3|
|Vulnerability Description||A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Windows.|
|Update/Patch Avaliable||Apply patches from: MS12-014|
|Vulnerability Details||The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the way that the Indeo Codec restricts the path used for loading external libraries. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by enticing a user to open a legitimate media file (such as an .avi file) that is located in the same network directory as a specially crafted dynamic link library (DLL) file. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected system.|
This protection will detect and block the transferring of malicious DLL files over a network share.
