Who is Vulnerable? Web servers
Vulnerability Description A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in all web servers.
Vulnerability Details

The vulnerability is due to the server's inability to handle multiple incoming IMAP requests within a short period of time. Remote attackers may exploit this issue by rapidly sending a large number of IMAP requests to the server. Successful exploitation may cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition.

Protection Overview

IPS will detect and block IMAP requests sent to the server over a short period of time.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Web Servers Multiple IMAP Initial Connection Requests Denial of Service protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
