RealNetworks Helix Server 14.x prior to 14.3
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in RealNetworks Helix Server.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to a boundary error while parsing specially crafted RN5 authentication data. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted RTSP request to the target Helix server. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target server, in the security context of the logged-on user.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block specially crafted RTSP requests.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the RealNetworks Helix Server rn5auth Credential Parsing Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
