Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the way Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook process TNEF encoded messages.
Vulnerability DetailsWhen the TNEF decoder used by these products processes a TNEF object record with a large size value, an integer overflow can occur. An attacker potentially can exploit this vulnerability for code execution by sending a specially crafted email to a target server or email account.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Exchange and Outlook TNEF Decoding Code Execution protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
