|
Vulnerability Details The vulnerability is due to the way Internet Explorer handles the loading of IESHIMS.DLL. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to save a maliciously crafted dynamic link library (DLL) file on the desktop or modify the system variable PATH. Upon starting the Internet Explorer 8, the malicious DLL will be loaded and executed. In a successful attack the behaviour of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the malicious DLL. The code, in this case, would execute within the security context of the currently logged in user. |
