Vulnerability Description
A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in the OData specification.

Vulnerability Details
The vulnerability is due improper sanitization of specially crafted values by the WCF Replace function. The vulnerability can be triggered by sending specially crafted requests to an OData web application. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to out of memory condition, resulting in a DoS.

Protection Overview
This protection will detect and block the crafted OData requests.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

To configure the defense, select your product from the list below and follow the related protection steps.

How Can I Protect My Network?

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft OData WCF Replace Denial of Service (MS13-007) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
