Who is Vulnerable?
Apple QuickTime prior to 7.7.5
A stack buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Apple QuickTime. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation on the length of font names when parsing atoms. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the target user to open a specially crafted file with the affected application. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the currently logged-in user.
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
