Who is Vulnerable? OpenSSL Project OpenSSL 1.0.1x prior to 1.0.1f
Vulnerability Description A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in OpenSSL. The vulnerability is due to an error in ssl_get_algorithms2() where the SSL/TLS version is obtained from an incorrect structure leading to a NULL pointer dereference when computing a message digest. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition on applications that use the vulnerable version of the OpenSSL library.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R70 / R71 / R75 and above

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the OpenSSL ssl_get_algorithm2 TLS Denial of Service - ver 2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
