Who is Vulnerable? Schneider Electric Pelco DS-NVs 7.6.32 and prior
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Schneider Electric Pelco DS-NV Software package. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation on a user-supplied input in the SetText method before it is copied into a fixed length buffer on stack. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the victim to open a file or visit a webpage. Successful exploitation could lead to code execution in the security context of the browser process.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Schneider Electric Pelco DS-NVs Rvctl.RVControl Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
