Check Point Signs Technology Licensing Agreement with RSA Data Security
Integration of RSA Technologies into FireWall-1 Creates Unique, Comprehensive Solution for Business-to-Business Electronic Commerce
San Francisco, CA —
Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. and RSA Data Security, Inc. today announced that they have signed an agreement under which Check Point is licensing RSA's industry-standard encryption and key management technologies. The technologies, including RSA's public key technology and advanced key negotiation techniques, are integrated into Check Point's FireWall-1 2.0, also announced today.
The agreement brings together the two leading vendors of the most critical enabling technologies for secure electronic commerce: network security and data encryption. Check Point's FireWall-1 is the market-leading Internet security solution, with more than 2,000 installations worldwide. RSA Data Security is the recognized leader in encryption and authentication technologies. With the integration of RSA's technologies into FireWall-1, Check Point is providing businesses with a unique, robust solution to secure private communications over a public network such as the Internet (also known as a virtual private network).
"Businesses eager to use the Internet as an extension of their corporate WAN or conduct electronic business with their customers and vendors need assurance that the communications will be secure," said Dr. Deborah Triant, president and chief executive officer of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Working together with RSA and integrating RSA's technologies into FireWall-1 creates a unique and powerful network security solution for secure business-to-business electronic commerce." "Electronic commerce will only proliferate if businesses can rest assured that they are not making their corporate information vulnerable," said Jim Bidzos, president of RSA Data Security, Inc. "We are delighted to be working with Check Point Software to integrate RSA's encryption and authentication technology into FireWall-1 2.0. The combination of Check Point's powerful security software and RSA's unparalleled encryption technology make this product an extremely valuable network security solution."
About FireWall-1 2.0
FireWall-1 2.0 gives companies all the key tools necessary to securely conduct business over the Internet in one comprehensive, cost-effective package. Significant new features of FireWall-1 2.0 include:
- Integrated encryption for securing private communications over public networks (virtual private networks).
- Client authentication to provide nomadic users and branch sites with secure remote access to enterprise networks.
- Address translation capabilities that allow corporations to overcome the limitations of IP addressing on their internal networks
- Support for Hewlett Packard's HP-UX operating system, adding to existing support for the Solaris and SunOS operating environments.
FireWall-1 protects an organization's internal network security while enabling full, transparent access to the Internet's vast resources. The solution, based on patent-pending "stateful multi-layer inspection" technology, eliminates the trade-off between connectivity and security that obsolete firewall solutions such as application gateways impose. This unique, protocol-independent technology ensures security for all current and future Internet protocols, services and applications with full transparency and bandwidth. With FireWall-1, an entire enterprise's network security policy can be created, monitored and maintained from a single workstation.
