Check Point Software Announces Compatability with Microsoft Proxy Server
Redwood City, CA —
Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., (NASDAQ: CHKPF), the leader in network security, today announced that its market-leading Check Point FireWall-1 network security software is compatible with the newly-announced Microsoft Proxy Server 1.0, formerly known by the code name "Catapult." Customers can use the two products in conjunction with each other on the Microsoft Windows NT Server network operating system to provide secure enterprise connectivity and high-performance Internet access.
Customers can use FireWall-1 to extend the security functionality of Microsoft Proxy Server. FireWall-1 supports more than 120 Internet and intranet applications, protocols and services, including the Microsoft NetMeeting conferencing software and NetShow, giving customers a high degree of flexibility in securing a wide variety of applications and extending the set of baseline Internet applications secured by Proxy Server. FireWall-1 enables corporations to define a global, enterprise-wide security policy and manage their multiple Internet and intranet firewalls cohesively, from one security console.
Microsoft Proxy Server complements FireWall-1 on Windows NT Server by providing enhanced Internet access performance for FireWall-1 users with the Web page caching capabilities of Proxy Server. Microsoft Proxy Server caches frequently accessed documents, improving response time and reducing network congestion. FireWall-1's recently announced ConnectControl product module can be used with Proxy Server to increase network performance through automatic load balancing across multiple servers.
"The increasing demand for Windows NT Server as an Internet and intranet server platform is equaled only by the demand for iron-clad security on the platform," said Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and president of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "By using Microsoft Proxy Server in conjunction with Check Point FireWall-1, customers get the highest-level of security from the industry's leading network security platform in conjunction with increased Internet access performance."
"We are pleased to be working with Check Point Software to provide customers of Windows NT Server a high level of security and performance," said Mike Nash, director of marketing for Windows NT Server and Infrastructure Products. "Customers will be able to use FireWall-1 in conjunction with Proxy Server to provide a solid solution for network security."
Check Point Software Technologies is the first and only network security vendor to announce compatibility with Microsoft's Proxy Server. Check Point has consistently been the first network security vendor to support new and emerging Microsoft platforms and applications, including the NetShow and NetMeeting multimedia applications and Windows NT Server 4.0.
The recently-announced Check Point FireWall-1 3.0 will
also be compatible with Microsoft Proxy Server. FireWall-1
3.0 enables organizations to define a single, integrated, global
security policy encompassing access control, authentication,
encryption, content security (including anti-virus protection,
URL filtering and Java security), load balancing and fault tolerance,
and enterprise management.
