Check Point FireWall-1 Awarded Top Indusctry Standards

Product Named Best Internet and Intranet Firewall

Redwood City, CA —

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the market share leader in network security software, today announced that the company has recently received several prestigious industry awards for its Check Point™ FireWall-1™ network security solution.

FireWall-1 won the coveted "Intranet Excellence" award in the Security Products category from Intranet Magazine, a publication of Network World. The presentation was made last month at an awards ceremony at NetWorld + Interop in Atlanta, Georgia.

Check Point was honored, in the words of the publication, "for their innovation and foresight in developing leading-edge intranet products and services." The product was selected by an independent Blue Ribbon Judging Panel of leading industry experts and consultants including International Data Corporation (IDC), Ernst & Young, and the Patricia Seybold Group.

At NetWorld + Interop, Atlanta, FireWall-1 also received the "Editors' Choice" award for Best Internet Firewall from Internetwork Magazine. Check Point FireWall-1 was selected because the magazine's panel of judges voted it to be among the technologies that "best exemplify the state-of-the-art, standards-based networking technologies available today."

In addition, the Internet Commerce Expo (ICE), an International Data Group company, awarded FireWall-1 a "Best of Class" designation for network management. Sponsored by Computerworld, the ICE selected FireWall-1 based on its unique ability to orchestrate the management of multiple firewall gateways from a central console. The award was presented to the company at the Internet Commerce Expo show last month in Anaheim, California. Gary Beach, President and CEO of Computerworld, noted that "each participant has distinguished their company or organization with their commitment to the advancement of end-user and customer productivity, service, and responsiveness being made commercially available via the Web."

These awards are the most recent in a series of accolades that FireWall-1 has received in the past year. In February 1996, Check Point announced that FireWall-1 earned the coveted "Editors' Choice" award from Network Computing magazine based on comparative testing of six firewall products, as well as a "Top Performer" award from Data Communications magazine based on an in-depth review of fourteen leading competitors.

"We are proud that our product has been recognized by so many of the leading independent industry publications," said Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and president of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Our primary focus has always been on meeting the requirements of our customers, and I hope that these awards in some measure reflect not just the technological merits of FireWall-1, but the business benefits our customers have achieved with our product."
