Check Point Software Opens First UK Office

Redwood City, CA —

Check Point Software Technologies, the leading provider of Internet/Intranet firewall software, has opened a subsidiary in the UK. Based in Cambridge, the company will be headed by Steve Barnett, the newly-appointed managing director of northern Europe. The UK office will be responsible for northern European marketing, and channel sales and support activities.

Check Point, which a has a large presence in the U.S. from its Redwood City, California office, is also planning further expansion into Europe. Offices in France and Germany are due to be established before the end of 1996.

Marius Nacht, VP, Check Point Software commented, "The UK market is one of the most important to us in terms of business growth as it is one of the fastest adopters of new networking and Internet technologies. The Internet firewall market in the UK is already well established and as the market leaders we will work with our resellers, OEMs and distributors to strengthen our UK position and increase revenue."

Steve Barnett, UK managing director, Check Point Software, stated, "There is a great deal of education to be done with regards to Internet/Intranet security and as the market leader in both these areas, we are in a position to lead debate on a number of important corporate issues such as virtual private networking, encryption and the Intranet, for which we offer the only true solution. Steve Barnett comes to Check Point Software from Datastorm Technologies, where he held the post of European sales and marketing manager, growing sales in Europe by over 45%. Before Datastorm, Barnett spent four years with Unipalm/Pipex, the leading provider of LAN, WAN and Internet products, now part of UU-Net.
