Check Point FireWall-1 Named "Best Firewall" by Network Computing Magazing
Redwood City, CA —
Check Point
Software Technologies, Ltd., the market share leader in network
security software, today announced that Check Point FireWall-1
has been awarded Network Computing magazine's Well-Connected
Award for the "Best Firewall" product.
The presentation was made last week at an awards ceremony at Networld+Interop in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Well-Connected Awards are the network industry's "Oscars," chosen by the editors of Network Computing magazine based on in-depth testing in the publication's real-world labs.
According to Network Computing's editors, FireWall-1 "contains a comprehensive package of powerful firewall capabilities that is easy to administer without sacrificing performance and flexibility. Once you decide on a security policy, FireWall-1 makes it a breeze to set up." The publication also comments that "in the unlikely event that the extensive list of features is not adequate to implement your security policy, further customizing options are available via (the) INSPECT language."
In summarizing its selection of FireWall-1 as "Best Firewall," the editors note that "your network faces many potential security threats. FireWall-1 has a lot of the answers, combined into a solution that does not compromise on performance or ease-of-use."
"We are thrilled to be awarded Network Computing's Well-Connected Award for the industry's "Best Firewall," said Deborah Triant, CEO and president of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Because of the extensive testing done by the editors, this award is one of the most coveted and meaningful editor's choice awards."
About FireWall-1
As the first shrinkwrapped firewall package, and the first
to employ an easy-to-use graphical user interface, FireWall-1
is consistently recognized by trade publications and users for
its usability, flexibility, extensibility and high performance.
With more than 5,000 installations worldwide as of March 1996,
FireWall-1 is more widely-tested in the field than
any other network security solution.
Based on Check Point's unique, patent-pending "stateful inspection" architecture, the product is the most flexible, easy-to-install, configure, and maintain firewall product available. More than 120 applications, services and protocols are supported out-of-the-box, and administrators can easily customize the firewall to incorporate new and in-house applications. FireWall-1 allows the enterprise's customized security policy to be created, monitored, and maintained from a single workstation, and enables network managers to configure and manage multiple firewalls throughout the enterprise from one, centralized management station. The product is also sold by SunSoft, Inc. as Solstice FireWall-1.
