Check Point Software Technologies Announces First Firewall to Support Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

Redwood City, CA —

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., (Nasdaq: CHKPF), the leader in network security, today announced that its award winning, flagship product, Check Point FireWall-1 is the first firewall solution to provide full support for the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 platform.

Check Point FireWall-1 for Windows NT, which began shipping in July 1996, provides the same robust, network security functionalities available on UNIX-based platforms and enables organizations to define a single, integrated security policy which combines Internet, Intranet and remote user access control with authentication, encryption and network address translation services. Additionally, Check Point FireWall-1 installations on UNIX platforms are fully interoperable with those on Microsoft Windows NT, to enable administrators to manage a single, enterprise-wide network security policy from any FireWall-1 management console.

Analysts believe that the Windows NT platform is poised to capture a significant percentage of Internet and Intranet server sales. International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that the number of Internet and Intranet servers based on Windows NT will increase more than twelve-fold in 1997 from 1995 and the installed base for Windows NT Server 4.0 will reach 1.5 million nodes by the end of 1997.*

Check Point Software Technologies has demonstrated continued support for Microsoft platforms and applications. In March of this year, the company unveiled the first shrinkwrapped package for Windows NT which also provides management console support for Windows NT and Windows 95 and integrated support for FireWall-1 SecuRemote client encryption software for Windows 95. In May, the company became the first firewall to support Microsoft NetMeeting, an emerging standard in multimedia conferencing applications.

"Check Point Software's support for the Windows NT Server 4.0 platform further solidifies the company's commitment to Microsoft products and the Windows NT platform," stated Dr. Deborah Triant, CEO and President of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Our support for Windows NT 4.0 will enable our customers to maintain the high level of security provided in FireWall-1 while leveraging Windows NT Server 4.0's enhanced security, integrated Internet and Intranet communications and performance enhancements."

"We are pleased that Check Point Software has made this commitment to Windows NT 4.0," said Mike Nash, division marketing manager, desktop and business systems division at Microsoft Corp. "Check Point FireWall-1's high-performance, easy-to-use security capabilities, along with the scalability and Intranet and Internet communications capabilities in Windows NT are a benefit to our mutual customers."
