CHECK POINT SOFTWARE EXPANDS WORLDWIDE PRESENCE IN AUSTRALIA
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- October 14, 1997 -- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKPF), today announced that it has opened a regional office in Sydney, Australia. The new office will provide local sales support and service for Check Point Software's growing base of channel partners in Australia and New Zealand, where the demand for enterprise-wide security and traffic management solutions is growing at a rapid pace. The new Australian office is headed by Peter Sandilands, a computer industry veteran with over twenty-one years of experience. As regional manager, Sandilands will be responsible for managing Check Point's extensive distribution network throughout the region, which currently includes local partners such as Express Data and Graphics Computer Systems (GCS) in Australia and Com Tech in New Zealand. Prior to joining Check Point, Sandilands was director of strategic development for Novell Asia Pacific, where he played an instrumental role in the growth and development of the Novell channels in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Before joining Novell, Sandilands held a number of product marketing, technical support and management roles in Australian computer companies.
