Leading Enterprise Security Solution Receives
Accolades for VPN Ease of Use and Management Capabilities
REDWOOD CITY, CALIF.,- October 6, 1997- Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF), today announced that its Check PointTM FireWall-1 enterprise security solution received "Testers Choice" honors from Data Communications Magazine in a comparative review of Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions published in the September 21, 1997 issue. Check Point was selected among fourteen VPN products for this prestigious honor and was praised for extending FireWall-1's functionality to deliver a powerful, easy-to-manage VPN. This is the third consecutive "Tester's Choice" the Check Point FireWall-1 product has received. In discussing FireWall-1's VPN functionalities, the Data Communications' editors stated, "Check Point wrote the book on simple security management with FireWall-1 and now it's extended that ease of use to VPNs. The same graphical interface used to set up the firewall rules also applies to VPN's." The Data Communication's testing team evaluated products based on four major factors: remote user access, key management, key management on international links, and remote administration. Check Point FireWall-1 received top scores in all key management and user access tests due to its fully integrated and transparent encryption capabilities. Check Point FireWall-1's Encryption Module, an integral component of Check Point's VPN solution, establishes a fully confidential communications channel over the Internet for virtual private networking, supporting both firewall-to-firewall and client-to-firewall encryption, to provide a bulletproof solution for corporate networks, remote sites and mobile workers. FireWall-1 integrates support for three authentication methods and multiple authentication schemes and no modification is required for local servers and client applications to guarantee performance. For added ease of use, authentication services are fully integrated. A one-stop security solutions vendor, Check Point's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) allows customers to integrate a full spectrum of security into their corporate enterprise. According to the Data Communications review, "companies that buy all their security products from one vendor deal with fewer platforms, and that means fewer management hassles." "The open, extensible nature of FireWall-1 allows the security policy to be easily modified in order to meet the changing security profile driven by electronic commerce and other business-to-business transactions," said Dr. Deborah Triant, president and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "We are pleased to receive recognition from Data Communications for the ease-of-use of our VPN solution, and will continue to provide high caliber, innovative products for secure enterprise connectivity."
