CHECK POINT SOFTWARE EXPANDS CORPORATE STRATEGY TO ADDRESS NETWORK PERFORMANCE

Industry Leader Leverages Patented Security Technology to Solve Network Bottlenecks; Enterprise Traffic Management Product Line Supports Strategy

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF., – September 22, 1997 – Furthering its vision of policy-based enterprise management, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF) today announced the company's market expansion to address a critical issue inhibiting Internet business use today: network performance. Leveraging its enterprise security technology leadership and expertise, Check Point will allow customers to create an enterprise-wide policy for converging network security and performance needs. In support of the company's strategy, Check Point has created a new product line, Enterprise Traffic Management, and today introduced the product line's flagship product, Check Point™ FloodGate-1™, the industry's premier policy-based bandwidth management solution (see separate release).

The widespread adoption of enterprise security technologies has made the Internet an important paradigm in conducting business. Around the globe, the Internet and related technologies are at the heart of corporate business models, with employees using the Web, "push" technology and other Internet-based applications as critical components of their jobs. However, this new paradigm has brought with it a corresponding increase in network traffic along with congestion and ‘traffic jams' of critical proportions.
