SOFTBANK and Check Point Software Announce Distribution Agreement in Japan Check Point FireWall-1 Selected as Key Offering Within SOFTBANK Security Bank Initiative

Tokyo, Japan—September 2, 1997—Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., (NASDAQ: CHKPF), a leader in enterprise security software, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with SOFTBANK Corporation, one of the largest PC software distributors in Japan, to distribute its award-winning Check Point TM FireWall-1 enterprise security software. In addition, Check Point has also been selected as the only firewall vendor in the Security Bank, a SOFTBANK initiative announced today that expands SOFTBANK's security business and delivers recommended best-of-breed security solutions to the Japanese market.

SOFTBANK will distribute FireWall-1 to its extensive base of resellers throughout Japan. Through its Security Bank initiative, SOFTBANK will recommend best-of-breed security solutions including offerings from Check Point Software, Internet Security Systems, Security Dynamics Technologies Inc., Trend Micro and VeriSign. Other offerings available via the Security Bank will include certified training courses and educational materials.

The SOFTBANK distribution agreement will further enhance Check Point's leading market position in Japan. A study published in June, 1997 by Dataquest declared Check Point Software the market share leader in the Japanese firewall market with 73.9 percent of the market in installed units.
