CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES EXTENDS MARKET SHARE LEADERSHIP

Redwood City, Calif. – March 12, 1997 -- According to a report published today by Boston, Mass.-based industry research firm The Yankee Group, Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKPF) has extended its market share leadership over competitors in the commercial network security marketplace. The report, "Network Security for the Enterprise," estimates that Check Point FireWall-1, Check Point Software's flagship product, accounts for approximately 44% of the worldwide firewall market in the first half of 1996. This is a four percent growth over the market share reported for 1995 in previous reports published by market researchers.

"Our findings unequivocally show that Check Point Software is the market share leader in the firewall market in terms of installed base units," said Jennifer Pigg, vice president of Yankee Group's Data Communications research service. "Check Point's market share is particularly impressive given the number of new entrants and the consolidation taking place in the industry."
