CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES JOINS ISS ADAPTIVE NETWORK SECURITY ALLIANCE

NETWORLD+INTEROP, Atlanta (Booth# 913) - October 21, 1998 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF), the worldwide leader in policy-based management for IP networks, announced today that it has become a charter member of ISS' Adaptive Network Security Alliance (ANSA), an open, industry-wide initiative dedicated to delivering an adaptive network security framework for enhanced enterprise security management. ANSA will provide the infrastructure to integrate adaptive security products with security and network systems to enable real-time, active response to detect and thwart security threats as they occur.

Check Point Software is a strong proponent of the open platform approach, which is the foundation of the Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC™) policy management framework pioneered by Check Point Software. OPSEC and ANSA share the goal of creating interoperability between security and network products, providing customers with freedom of choice among best-of-breed solutions. ANSA, through its Adaptive Network Security (ANS) Modules will complement the existing OPSEC framework, providing a valuable form of interoperability through its adaptive security functionality. OPSEC and ANSA will be working together to ensure that their efforts are coordinated for the benefit of enterprise customers.

"As a leader in the enterprise security market, we understand the importance of providing customers with a framework for adaptive network security management that will enable end-to-end information protection," said Dr. Deborah Triant Rieman, president and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "We are thrilled to be a charter member of ANSA and will work to ensure that this initiative works hand-in-hand with Check Point's OPSEC policy management framework and OPSEC Alliance in enabling enterprise customers to respond to security risks within their dynamic environments."

"Having Check Point Software as a charter member of ANSA is truly significant to our initiative," said Tom Noonan, president and CEO of ISS. "We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with Check Point to expand the synergistic efforts of both OPSEC and ANSA and ensure that they are coordinated for the mutual benefit of our enterprise customers."

About ANSA

Adaptive network security systems will communicate with ANSA partners' products to verify their secure configuration, and reconfigure them to defend the network against detected security risks. For example, Check Point™ FireWall-1 can be reconfigured in real-time to thwart network attacks and shut down intruders.

ANSA partners will utilize Adaptive Network Security (ANS) Modules, Software Development Kits (SDKs) engineered by ISS to further integrate adaptive network security functionality into their products. Initial ANS Modules will support embedded adaptive security functionality for firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), anti-virus/malicious code software, public key infrastructure (PKI), routers, switches and network and systems management products and services.
