(Nasdaq: CHKPF), the leader in policy-based management solutions for active networks, today announced that France Telecom will standardize on the Check Point FireWall-1 enterprise security suite to provide managed Internet services. By integrating FireWall-1 into its managed offerings, France Telecom, one of the largest telecommunications companies worldwide, can now offer the industry's leading policy-based enterprise security services to secure the Internet, Intranet, and Extranet needs of its large installed base of corporate customers. Under the terms of the agreement, France Telecom will utilize Check Point's solutions to manage the installation, configuration, management and monitoring of the customer's security requirements. France Telecom will provide these services for either customer premised equipment or equipment located within a France Telecom network operations center (NOC), with the ultimate goal of enabling customers to conduct secure, reliable, and manageable business communications using the Internet. "Since 1997, France Telecom's Global Intranet service portfolio includes the integration of Internet technologies into our business customers' corporate information systems," said Charles des Cognets, executive vice president of France Telecom Transpac. "Our offerings evolve according to our customer needs; therefore, the security solution that we provide must be flexible enough to meet these requirements. Check Point provides the most powerful and flexible enterprise management capabilities in the industry, as well as the most comprehensive set of security features. Its open and extensible architecture allows us to connect our customers to the Internet and provide them with maximum security for exchanging information with their trading partners, as well as add new security technologies as needed." FireWall-1, which has become the enterprise security platform of choice for Internet Service Providers and telecommunications companies worldwide, will be integrated into France Telecom's selection of managed security services. In addition, Check Point provides a critical technology advantage to telecommunications providers through the flexible, comprehensive OPSEC (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) architecture. The only open, policy-based management architecture in the industry, OPSEC manages and integrates all aspects of enterprise security through an open, extensible framework. OPSEC allows ISPs and telecommunication providers such as France Telecom to easily and seamlessly integrate a full spectrum of security applications for each customer's particular requirements. Today, over 140 OPSEC Compliant applications can be integrated into and managed by the Check Point management console. France Telecom will leverage Check Point's unparalleled ability to define and manage a single, central enterprise-wide security policy for an entire network. These policies can be managed and supported across all the internetworking and computing platforms deployed within a customer's network, including UNIX and Windows NT-based workstations and servers, routers, switches and other internetworking platforms. "We are pleased that France Telecom, Europe's largest telecommunications provider, has chosen to standardize on Check Point's technologies worldwide," said Marius Nacht, vice president of international operations at Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.
