CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES PROMOTES LIMOR BAKAL TO VICE PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL SALES AND MARKETING

Company recognizes efforts in building market share dominance in Europe and the Asia Pacific regions

RAMAT-GAN, ISRAEL - November 3, 1998 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF) today announced that Limor Bakal has been promoted to vice president of international sales and marketing. Bakal, who has been with the company for more than three years, assumes overall responsibility for the development, implementation and management of Check Point's international sales, channel partner development and regional marketing communications programs. In this capacity she is responsible for managing all of Check Point's international offices and subsidiaries, which include Japan and Korea, Asia Pacific, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and the Middle East. Sales across these regions now account for approximately 50% of Check Point's business.

Bakal has been instrumental in establishing Check Point's market dominance through building the company's channels and sales presence internationally, especially in Europe and Asia Pacific. According to a study by International Data Corporation, "The Asia Pacific Firewall Market" (March 1998), Check Point owns 70% of the firewall market share in this region compared with Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) and Network Associates (Nasdaq: NETA) at a distant 5% each. In another IDC report dated August 1998, Check Point leads its competitors with a 61% share of the firewall market and 64% share of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) market in Europe. In comparison, Cisco captures only 13% of the firewall market and 3% of the VPN market in Europe, and Network Associates holds only 5% of the firewall market and 2% of the VPN market.

"We are pleased to see a talented individual such as Limor progress to the next level within our organization," said Gil Shwed, president and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. "We anticipate Limor's continued contributions to Check Point's overall goals and strategic success."

Bakal received an M.B.A. in marketing and international business from Columbia University, and a B.A. in political science and Middle Eastern studies from Tel-Aviv University.
