CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES NAMED MICROSOFT SECURITY PARTNER

Strengthens Strategic Relationship between Microsoft and Check Point

Redwood City, Calif., -- October 7, 1998 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKPF), the leader in policy-based management solutions for IP networks, today announced that it was named a Microsoft Security Partner. The Security Partners Program furthers Check Point's existing strategic relationship with Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) to provide tight integration between their respective product offerings.

As a member of the Microsoft Security Partners Program, Check Point is providing an open policy management console which enhances the security features of the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. Check Point's Open Security Manager security policy management console reduces management cost and ensures consistent security by enabling organizations to define and manage a comprehensive enterprise security policy using a single console, and then deploy that policy onto multiple Microsoft Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) devices. With Open Security Manager, customers also have the flexibility to use the same console to deploy and manage security policies across the Check Point FireWall-1 and additional third-party security devices, such as routers from Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO), Bay Networks (NYSE: NT/TSE: NTL) and 3Com (Nasdaq: COMS).

"Check Point's inclusion in Microsoft's Security Partners Program builds upon the strong existing relationship we have with Microsoft," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Check Point and Microsoft customers can now deploy and manage the security features of Microsoft RRAS from Check Point's easy-to-use security policy management console."

"Microsoft is pleased to include Check Point Software Technologies as part of its Security Partners Program," said Karen Khanna, Windows NT security product manager at Microsoft Corp. "This program will help our mutual customers develop and deploy secure solutions built on the Windows NT platform."

Open Security Manager is available immediately with pricing starting at $1,495 U.S.
