Leading Companies Honored in Check Point Excellence Awards

Second annual awards program recognizes innovative customer and partner enterprise security implementations</p>

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., -- September 20, 1999 – Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKPF), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the winners of its second annual Check Point Excellence Awards at Networld+Interop held in Atlanta. The program awarded selected customers for some of the most innovative and successful implementations of Check Point Internet security. With over 32,000 customers and 80,000 installations worldwide, this year's Check Point Excellence Award winners represent, industry-leading companies in the banking, consulting, financial services, hospitality, retail, service provider and technology markets.

The recipients of the 1999 Check Point Excellence Award winners include:

  • Office Depot for Outstanding E-Commerce Security Implementation
    Office Depot, the world's largest seller of office products, launched its operations onto the Internet two years ago to capture revenue outside of its traditional commerce framework. It is now a major E-commerce site with 3 million hits a day. Office Depot uses VPN-1/FireWall-1 as the basis of its secure e-commerce site. Office Depot's use of VPN-1/FireWall-1 is critical to its E-Commerce by safeguarding transactions and protecting all of the back-end resources.
  • Perot Systems for Cutting Edge Security Practices
    Perot Systems, a leader in technology consulting and services, has over 6,000 employees traveling around the world, managing various systems integration and systems management projects. These mobile employees are equipped with Check Point's VPN-1 SecuRemote client VPN software. With the nomadic nature of its work force, employees need secure access to the corporate network from any location worldwide. Perot makes extensive use of VPN-1/FireWall-1 from Check Point to provide these secure communication paths over the Internet to and from its large group of mobile employees.
  • Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for Strategic and Visionary Use of VPNs
    Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is the world's leading operator of luxury hotels, currently managing 43 properties in 18 countries. The company began an initiative to improve the personalization for repeat hotel guests through the sharing of guest histories and preferences between hotels using Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1. The hotels plan to extend their VPN capabilities for guests to use from an individual hotel room or for larger meetings to securely connect to other facilities.
  • GTE Internetworking for Managed Security Services
    GTE Internetworking, a unit of GTE Corporation, provides its customers, ranging from consumers to Fortune 500 companies, a full spectrum of integrated Internet services using IP networking technologies. In order to provide the very best security services to its customers, GTE Internetworking uses Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 along with Provider-1, to meet Internet security demands—from very large, multi-location sites to smaller companies.
  • Banker's Life and Casualty Company for Outstanding Meta IP Implementation
    With more than 12 million customers, Banker's Life is using Check Point Meta IP to help manage the network's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name Service (DNS) services of nearly 5,000 IP addresses in a heterogeneous environment including Solaris, Linux, NT, OS/2, Macintosh and Novell platforms. With Meta IP, Banker's Life has greatly increased its flexibility and centralized management of distributed services (DHCP and Dynamic DNS).
  • RewardsPlus of America for Outstanding FloodGate-1 Implementation
    RewardsPlus of America is a high-tech distribution channel for insurance, finance and personal service products. To securely connect each participating company, automatically exchange data and provide web-based information to participating employees, RewardsPlus saw the need for Check Point's FloodGate-1 bandwidth management solution to maintain consistent, accurate and timely service. The key for RewardsPlus was FloodGate-1's fine-grained prioritization that is flexible, comprehensive and easy to manage while being scaleable.

As a part of the program, two resellers were honored for their outstanding work with some of the winners of the Excellence Awards:

  • Mission Critical Systems
    Mission Critical Systems has worked closely with Office Depot to ensure its successful implementation for E-Commerce security. Mission Critical Systems provides comprehensive, flexible network security products and consulting services.
