Award-winning Check Point VPN-1 Appliance delivers the power and ease of centralized management and distributed deployment NETWORLD + INTEROP, Las Vegas, Nev., May 11, 1999 (Booth # 8279) - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in secure enterprise networking, today announced the availability of the IPSec IKE-compliant next-generation version of its VPN-1 Appliance, an integrated hardware and software virtual private networking solution. Internet Key Exchange (IKE) is the industry standard for extranet VPNs and is important for the next generation of IP communications. VPN-1 Appliance, designed for both corporate and remote office deployment, is part of Check Point Software's comprehensive VPN-1 family of solutions for virtual private networking. Check Point Software leads the VPN market with more than 17,000 gateway installations and millions of remote access VPN clients deployed. The award-winning VPN-1 Appliance easily integrates into an existing security policy and is distinguished from other vendor offerings by its centralized management with distributed deployment. By supporting the industry-standard IPSec IKE protocol, VPN-1 Appliance maintains the highest level of interoperability, while protecting the privacy and integrity of all sensitive data transfers over the Internet. Using IKE, Check Point Software's VPN-1 Appliance automatically negotiates the strongest possible encryption and data authentication algorithms between communicating parties. Successfully meeting the rigorous standards established for IKE interoperability has enabled Check Point Software to supply VPN solutions to emerging extranet projects, such as the Automotive Network eXchange. "IPSEC IKE provides the standard for extranet and multi-vendor VPN interoperability," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "With the VPN-1 Appliance, we have established a new benchmark for a VPN solution that provides integrated network security and is easy to remotely deploy and manage." "The VPN-1 Appliance has helped FishNet's customers take full advantage of the cost saving benefits of virtual private networking while providing the necessary level of security that protects them from intrusion," said Gary Fish, president and CEO of FishNet Consulting. "We have been selling Check Point FireWall-1 for some time; this extension into the VPN space makes a lot of sense for customers as we know we can rely on Check Point Software to build a quality product with failsafe security. That's a huge advantage for my business and my customers."
VPN-1 Appliance integrates Check Point Software's industry-leading FireWall-1 enterprise security suite with secure VPN connectivity in a standalone, rack-mountable chassis. It supports both site-to-site and client-to-site VPN sessions, with client VPN software available free of charge.
VPN-1 Appliance is the ideal solution for satellite offices that need Internet access, but lack the on-site expertise to administer and manage a comprehensive security policy. With the VPN-1 Appliance, all software, including the operating system, is installed and pre-configured for rapid VPN deployment and commissioning. The centralized management capability of VPN-1 Appliance enables network security to be integrated with the overall network security policy and safely and effectively managed from a single console.
VPN-1 Appliance is available now in four configurations. Prices in the United States range from $2,995 to $19,995. VPN-1 Appliance is available worldwide.
