Leading Telecommunications Provider in the Netherlands Adopts Check Point Provider-1TM and VPN-1TM to Manage Customer VPN and Network Security Policies Redwood City, Calif. - October 11, 1999 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced it has finalized an agreement with Royal KPN NV (NYSE: KPN) to incorporate Check Point Provider-1 and Check Point VPN-1 product family into its managed service offerings. The agreement enables KPN to offer its customers world class managed security services, including enterprise security and VPN deployment, based on Check Point Software's market leading solutions. As a part of the agreement, KPN also joined Check Point's Certified Managed Service Providers (CCMSP) Program. The CCMSP Program is a category within Check Point Software's Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) Alliance and is the marketing and sales cornerstone of Check Point Software's commitment to delivering carrier-class, flexible, manageable and cost effective solutions to the MSP market. "Adding Check Point Software solutions to our managed service offerings is a natural extension of KPN's commitment to providing high-quality, high-performance services to its demanding enterprise customers," says Max Alias, security product manager at KPN. "The Check Point architecture enables us to build a scalable, manageable, cost effective solution for Managed Security Services." KPN will dramatically lower the hardware and personnel costs associated with managed security services delivery by leveraging Provider-1's ability to manage the network security policies of hundreds of customers with thousands of firewall and VPN gateways. In the past, MSPs wanting to offer managed security services had to install a dedicated management station to manage each customer's network security policies. By using Check Point's Povider-1 and VPN-1 solutions, new customers can be served with little or no increase in management hardware or personnel investment. "Check Point Software is pleased to work with KPN as part of its managed security services," says Limor Bakal, vice president of international sales and marketing, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. "As more companies demand network security outsourcing, Check Point Software is leading the way with proven enterprise security solutions specifically developed for MSPs."
