CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES' META IP GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW PRICING FOR IP ADDRESS MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

Meta IP 4.1 Standard Edition offers reduced pricing, more features to smaller organizations

SEATTLE - January 25, 1999 - Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. - Meta IP Group, an international leader in IP address management software, today announced new pricing for its Meta IP 4.1 Standard Edition. Meta IP, available in Standard and Enterprise editions, is an automated IP address management solution that manages a company's entire IP address and name space - from a single interface - across multiple platforms and locations.

"This aggressive pricing change is indicative of Check Point's commitment to deliver complete IP address management solutions to all networks, regardless of size," said Eddie Hold, research analyst with Current Analysis. "Meta IP 4.1 Standard Edition gives smaller networks an enterprise class solution at a very competitive price point."

Meta IP Standard now will also include the industry's only UAM (User-to-Address Mapping™) technology, which was previously available only in the higher-priced Enterprise Edition. The innovative UAM technology automatically matches network users to their IP addresses, and when used in conjunction with Check Point™ FireWall-1, enables the creation and management of user-based security policies in a dynamic environment.

"Organizations with smaller IP networks can now take advantage of the advanced features of an enterprise-level IP address management solution at an affordable price," said Jared Vogt, general manager of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. - Meta IP Group. "In addition to the product's DNS, DDNS and DHCP services, network administrators can now use the Meta IP User-to-Address Mapping technology to implement user-based security features provided by FireWall-1."

In the past, those users who wanted DNS functionality purchased the Meta DNS product separately. This new pricing structure will enable them to purchase the full Meta IP 4.1 Standard 100-client edition for a lower price point than the previous Meta DNS alone. As a result, the Meta DNS product will no longer be offered separately.

Pricing and Availability

The new pricing model will position Meta IP 4.1 Standard Edition as the ideal IP address management solution for organizations with 1000 nodes or less. Under the new pricing structure, a 1000-node license will be priced at $4495, and a 100-node license at $445. In addition to lower pricing, Meta IP 4.1 Standard Edition will include two DNS and two DHCP services. The new changes will become effective the week of January 18, 1999.
