| REDWOOD CITY, Calif.,
August 30, 1999 Check Point Software Technologies
Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) today announced the availability of a major
new release of its market-leading integrated Check Point
VPN-1/FireWall-1 suite for secure Internet communications.
The new product suite represents a significant advance in VPN
solutions and provides the basis for Check Point Software's
Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture, incorporating
all of the critical elements for a secure Internet environment.
Unlike currently available VPNs, the SVN architecture provides
secure and seamless Internet connectivity between users, networks,
systems and applications across the Internet, intranets and
extranets.
The new VPN-1/FireWall-1 product family integrates three new areas of functionality critical to enterprise-wide VPN deployment: high availability, PKI interoperability and integrated bandwidth management (QoS). As with previous versions of the product, VPN-1 is fully integrated with FireWall-1 to ensure seamless security and comprehensive centralized management. "Our VPN-1 product family has quickly become the clear market leader because of its integrated security, high performance and centralized management," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies. "Today we are extending our VPN leadership to solve the evolving needs of E-business and complete Internet environments." 1. High Availability Today's e-business requires a fail-safe, secure infrastructure. A VPN gateway shutdown of just minutes can mean a substantial financial loss or risk to a company. VPN-1 now uniquely enables sophisticated high availability solutions to provide transparent failover capabilities for business-critical VPN gateways without the loss of connections that are in progress. In addition, VPN-1 SecuRemote remote access VPN software and the new VPN-1 SecureClient now uniquely feature Resilient Remote Access with built-in intelligence to automatically connect to any available designated corporate VPN-1 gateway. This provides organizations with an added level of reliability and ease-of-useif a primary gateway is unreachable, VPN-1 clients automatically connect to other designated VPN-1 gateways. VPN-1 also supports load balancing and clustering, enabling a single gateway to support tens of thousands of concurrent VPN sessions and OC-3 data rates (155 Mbps). 2. PKI Interoperability E-business and extranet environments are evolving, creating the need to connect partner sites which have potentially different PKI systems. The new VPN-1 release includes Check Point Software's OpenPKI technology, uniquely enabling simultaneous support for digital certificates from multiple vendors' certificate authorities. With this release of VPN-1, Check Point Software now provides the industry's most comprehensive support for multi-vendor PKIs, including AOL/Netscape, Baltimore Technologies, Entrust Technologies, GTE CyberTrust, IBM, Microsoft, Security Dynamics, SPYRUS, VeriSign, XCert International and others. 3. Integrated Bandwidth Management (QoS) In moving network traffic from dedicated or dial-up lines to VPNs, companies must maintain high levels of performance, especially for business-critical communications. Check Point Software's new VPN-1 optimizes VPN performance by integrating advanced bandwidth management at the policy management level. By prioritizing traffic prior to encryption, VPN-1 enables high-performance and secure VPN communications to be implemented according to business importance. In addition, a graphical real-time traffic monitor provides an easy-to-use tool for visually identifying sources of congestion and usage trends on VPN links. Finally, the integrated logging and reporting capabilities enable corporations to implement performance and security service level agreements (SLAs) in combination with VPN deployments. Pricing and
