CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES NEW SALES INITIATIVE

Check Point Software creates a new global accounts sales organization to expand sales reach

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – February 3, 1999 – Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in secure enterprise networking solutions, today announced the creation of a new global accounts sales organization and the expansion of its sales management team. This move, part of Check Point Software's growth strategy for 1999, will further the company's significant leadership position within the enterprise security market and enable it to better focus on meeting the unique needs of its enterprise-level customers and partners.

Under this plan, Check Point Software has created two new positions within its sales organization: vice president of Americas sales and vice president of global accounts. Kenneth Casey has been promoted to vice president of Americas sales. In this capacity, Casey is responsible for managing all regional VAR/reseller sales channels and two-tier distribution channels across North and South America. Scott Steigerwald has been promoted to vice president of global accounts and will work with Check Point Software's partners and channels to better manage the company's sales interaction with systems integrators (SIs), managed service providers (MSPs), OEMs and select global enterprise organizations. These promotions, announced at this week's Check Point Software's Americas Sales '99 Kick-Off Meeting, take effect immediately.

"As the market leader, Check Point continues to set the standard and this new global accounts sales organization enables us to devote more senior management attention to our customers and partners," said Jerry Ungerman, executive vice president, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. "Since joining Check Point, Ken and Scott have been responsible for an 18-fold increase in quarterly revenue growth. I am pleased that we were able to look within to grow our organization and recognize the significant contributions these individuals have made to our bottom line."

Casey and Steigerwald have been instrumental in establishing Check Point Software's market dominance through building the company's channels and sales presence in the Americas. According to the annual market share study conducted by industry analyst International Data Corporation, "The Worldwide Firewall Market, 1997" (July 1998), Check Point Software was the only vendor to increase market share in 1997, giving the company dominance of the firewall or enterprise security market, followed by Cisco, Axent and Network Associates.

Casey joined Check Point Software in 1995 with 15 years experience in various areas of the high-tech industry, including networking and software. Before joining Check Point Software, he served as New England sales manager for SynOptics Communications, now Nortel Networks. Prior to that, he spent eight years with AT&T in various sales and sales management positions, focused on the New York financial industry. Earlier in his career, Casey spent two years at Digital Equipment Corporation, now Compaq Computer Corporation, as part of the Global Accounts program; he began his career at Diversified Electronics, a custom software house. Casey holds a bachelor's degree in English from St. Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont.

Steigerwald brings more than 17 years of major account and sales management experience to his new role at Check Point Software. Before joining Check Point, Steigerwald also was with SynOptics, where he was Central Region Area Manager responsible for the Automotive Industry and was recognized in 1992 as the company's top-performing area manager worldwide. In 1986, while with ROLM Communications, he received Top Performer honors and the ROLM Sales Executive of the Year award. Steigerwald studied at Cambridge University in England and received his bachelor's degree in English literature in 1981 from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
