CHECK POINT SOFTWARE RECEIVES RIGOROUS NSA CERTIFICATION FOR FIREWALL-1

FireWall-1 only solution to receive certification under dual firewall protection profiles

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. – October 19, 1999 – Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that its VPN-1™/FireWall-1 security suite has been awarded certification for Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) under both the Application Level Firewall and Traffic Filter Firewall Protection Profiles. Check Point's FireWall-1 is the only firewall product to receive the dual Protection Profile compliance certification as designated by the National Security Agency (NSA). The announcement was formally made yesterday during the National Information Systems Security Conference in Washington, D.C.

The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CCITSE), a National Security Agency (NSA)/National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) initiative, is a multi-national evaluation standard designed to assist government buyers in identifying and purchasing products with security features that match their own risk assessment requirements. Vendors who receive the Common Criteria certification must undergo a rigorous seven-step testing program including a formal proposal submission, an intensive preliminary technical review and a final evaluation process.

As an NSA authorized product, Check Point Software's FireWall-1 is listed on the official NSA/NIST web site for products approved under the Common Criteria at http://niap.nist.gov/cc-scheme/ValidatedProducts.html

"Check Point Software is pleased to receive this prestigious security certification from the NSA," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development of Check Point Software Technologies. "By meeting the stringent requirements of the U.S. government, Check Point's FireWall-1 has yet again been independently verified to provide the level of security required to protect the vital computing resources of governments and corporations worldwide."
