Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Continues Momentum NETWORLD + INTEROP, Las Vegas, Nev., May 11, 1999 (Booth #8279) - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in secure enterprise networking, today announced that it has signed UUNET, an MCI WorldCom company (NASDAQ: MCI), as the 200th partner to its Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Alliance. Check Point Software founded OPSEC two years ago as a single platform architecture for the integration and management of all aspects of network security through an open, extensible framework. OPSEC has quickly grown to become the industry standard for openness, integration, centralized management and customer choice. "OPSEC represents Check Point Software's commitment to provide customers with best-of-breed enterprise network security solutions that are tightly integrated and highly interoperable," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies. "We are proud to announce today that OPSEC has crossed the 200 partner milestone." OPSEC is the industry's leading alliance of companies with products or services that have been certified to meet Check Point specifications for interoperability at the policy enforcement and management level. OPSEC embraces industry standards for integration, where they exist, and leads the industry with the creation of new interfaces to meet customer requirements for seamless integration. The OPSEC SDK (software development kit), a collection of open application program interfaces (APIs) and detailed interface specifications, represents the most complete, open integration toolkit available in the industry. Check Point Software has led the industry in key areas of policy enforcement and management, including inventing the concept of integrating URL categorization (UFP) and Content Vectoring (CVP) with network security. Through OPSEC, Check Point Software was the first to offer a toolkit API set for policy enforcement integration. Check Point Software also was first to provide LDAP-based access to the rule base for integration with other policy management applications (OMI) and the first to provide integration between intrusion detection products and the firewall. Check Point Software recently has provided support for secure event messaging through its LEA and ELA APIs and has strongly endorsed key internet standards such as RADIUS, LDAP and PKIX. Check Point Software plays a major role in the ongoing development for content security integration (CCI or Common Content Inspection API) by publishing Check Point's CVP specification and allowing it to be used as the basis for the new API. OPSEC has four main categories of membership: Infrastructure, Framework, Passport and Check Point Certified Managed Service Providers. OPSEC Infrastructure partners embed Check Point Software policy enforcement technology directly into servers, internetworking devices such as routers and switches, or other solutions. Infrastructure partners include Nortel Networks, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Nokia, Xylan and others. OPSEC Framework partners integrate security applications and technology into Check Point Software's overall secure enterprise networking solutions. The Framework category includes content security, authentication and authorization, intrusion detection, event analysis, high availability, secured operating systems and two new groups: PKI products and services, and directory services (see other Check Point release issued today). Framework partners include Entrust Technologies, Internet Security Systems (ISS), NetPartners, Novell, Security Dynamics, StoneSoft, Symantec, Tivoli Systems, Trend Micro, Veritas, WebTrends and others. OPSEC Passport partners include leading Internet, intranet and extranet applications that demand security and control. Such application areas include: multimedia, database, groupware, business process and workflow and other applications. Passport partners include BackWeb Technologies, Citrix, Informix, Liquid Audio, Microsoft, Netscape, Oracle, PictureTel, Progressive Networks, Sybase and others. Check Point Certified Managed Service Providers (CCMSP) include the world's largest Internet and communications companies offering managed security services, including managed VPN services. Initial CCMSP members include: GTE Internetworking, Intermedia Communications, Netrex Secure Solutions, Sprint and UUNET, an MCI WorldCom Company.
Demonstrations of more than 20 OPSEC solutions will take place daily in the Check Point Software OPSEC Pavilion (Booth # 8279) at the NetWorld + Interop conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center May 11-13.
