CHECK POINT SOFTWARE WINS PC MAGAZINE'S EDITORS' CHOICE AWARD

FireWall-1/ VPN-1 Now Deployed at Over 80,000 Customer Installations Receives Top Industry Honor

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF, - August 11, 1999 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), the world-wide leader in secure enterprise networking, today announced that its Check Point™ FireWall-1 enterprise security solution received PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award for the publication's comparative firewall product review featured in the September 1999 issue. PC Magazine ran a similar review once before, in 1997, where Check Point Software also won the Editors' Choice honor.

PC Magazine selected Check Point Software for this prestigious award from among three other products on the basis of rigorous security and performance lab tests conducted by the publication's reviews and testing staff. Check Point FireWall-1 4.0 was evaluated against Axent's (NASDAQ: AXNT) Raptor for Windows NT 6.0, Network Associates' (NASDAQ: NETA) Gauntlet 5.0 and Secure Computing's (NASDAQ: SCUR) Sidewinder Security Server 4.1. Some of the unique Check Point FireWall-1 features identified by PC Magazine include:

  • Ease-of-use: "The best combination of functionality and ease of use makes Check Point's FireWall-1 the choice for implementing the core element of your corporation's protection scheme. No other product offers as clean an interface for managing your firewall or even multiple firewalls across your network."
  • Centralized management with distributed deployment: "No other firewall offers a true single point of management for multiple firewalls…This saves administration time and ensures consistent security throughout the network."
  • Comprehensive solution: "FireWall-1 provides strong security and the cleanest, most flexible administration and monitoring in this review group."
  • Enterprise-wide security management: "The security policy interface clearly displays all rules on all firewalls in table format."

"We are very pleased to receive this best-in-class award based on PC Magazine's stringent tests against all the other major software firewall products," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development at Check Point Software Technologies. "This award is yet another confirmation of Check Point Software's strong product leadership in the network security market."
