SWISSCOM ADOPTS CHECK POINT SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES IN MANAGED NETWORK SECURITY SERVICES
Largest Telecommunications Provider in Switzerland Standardizes on Check Point Provider-1TM to Manage Customer VPN and Network Security Policies REDWOOD CITY, CALIF, - July 13, 1999 - Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in secure enterprise networking solutions, today announced it has finalized an agreement with Swisscom AG (NYSE: SCM) to incorporate Check Point Provider-1 and Check Point VPN-1 Appliance into its extensive managed service offerings. The agreement enables Swisscom to provide the industry's leading solution for centrally creating and managing the underlying infrastructure for e-commerce of multiple customers, including enterprise security and VPN deployment. Today's announcement reflects the growing trend among Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to incorporate Check Point Software's security solutions into their managed service offerings through Provider-1. As a part of establishing a close working relationship, Swisscom recently joined Check Point's Certified Managed Service Providers (CCMSP) Program. The CCMSP Program, announced last month, is a new category within Check Point Software's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSEC) Alliance and enables MSPs to partner with Check Point Software to deliver the most advanced network security solutions to their customers. "Swisscom's top priority is to meet the unique security and VPN requirements of its extensive customer base. As a leading managed service provider, we chose Check Point's Provider-1 and VPN-1 Appliance because it is an integrated, scaleable solution that can be managed from a single point," said Marco Bucholzki, product manager, security solutions, Swisscom AG. By leveraging Provider-1's unparalleled ability to manage the network security policies of hundreds of customers with thousands of firewall and VPN gateways, Swisscom will dramatically lower the hardware and personnel costs associated with managed security services delivery. In the past, MSPs wanting to offer managed security services had to install a dedicated management station to manage each customer's network security policies. By using Check Point's Provider-1, new customers can be served with little or no increase in management hardware or personnel investment. By using Provider-1, Swisscom can supervise and support network security policies across all the internetworking and computing platforms deployed within a customer's network. In combination, VPN-1 Appliance will be hosted and managed by Swisscom, using Provider-1 at the Swisscom NOC (Network Operation Center), to ensure secure VPN sessions and firewall protection for each customer. "We are pleased that Swisscom, well-known for its excellent service and industry leadership, has chosen to build its services around Check Point Software's enterprise security architecture," said Limor Bakal, vice president of international sales and marketing at Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. "Check Point Software's integrated, policy-based management will enable Swisscom customers to conduct secure, reliable and manageable communications with their customers, business partners and employees."
