CHECK POINT SOFTWARE ENSURES E-BUSINESS SECURITY ON IBM'S AIX PLATFORM

IBM Certification Enhances World-Class Internet Security Solution

REDWOOD CITY, CA. Jan. 4, 2000 Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that its FireWall-1 Internet security solution and IBM's HACMP high-availability software have both met vigorous integration standards, enabling IBM (NYSE:IBM) to strengthen its security offering and providing customers with the bulletproof protection and availability e-businesses require.

The two products, Check Point Software's market-leading FireWall-1 and IBM's industry-leading clustering software, HACMP, combine to form a high-availability solution running on AIX, the operating system for IBM RS/6000 servers. This integrated solution has achieved OPSEC Certification, ensuring that HACMP and FireWall-1 work together seamlessly. Check Point's Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) extends the Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture by providing a unique, open platform for integration and interoperability of best-of-breed products and services. This seamless integration is an essential element for reliable and manageable e-business environments.

In addition, Check Point's FireWall-1 has been designated as an IBM ClusterProven solution. The ClusterProven designation signifies that an application has met rigorous performance specifications in an IBM clustered server environment. These specifications include maintaining application availability in the event a failure occurs in one of the servers in the cluster.

"If your firewall goes down, your e-business can't function," said Debra Thompson, IBM vice president, product management and segment solutions, RS/6000. "Together, our HACMP and Check Point's FireWall-1 offer the reliability that Web-based commerce demands."

"Security has become a key enabler for E-Business and E-Commerce," said Asheem Chandna, vice president of marketing and business development for Check Point Software Technologies. "Our collaboration with IBM provides customers with a certified 'best-of-breed' solution for deploying highly-available E-Business security."

IBM's HACMP, which operates on current RS/6000 servers, detects system hardware and software failures and automatically engages alternate hardware and software systems. Please see the OPSEC website for more information on the HACMP/FireWall-1 solution. IBM offers a technical manual --called a Redbook -- for installing FireWall-1 on an RS/6000 standalone server as well on an HACMP-enabled cluster. The Redbook, Check Point FireWall-1 on AIX: A Cookbook for Stand-Alone and High Availability, is available online.
