Check Point Software Gains Nearly Ten Percent Additional Market Share in the Worldwide Firewall Market

New IDC report gives Check Point a significant lead with 41% market share

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., November 28, 2000 - Check Point Software Technologies (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced that a new report shows it has increased its market share in the worldwide firewall market and remains the clear leader for the fourth consecutive year, according to IDC. IDC's "Internet Security Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2004" report gives Check Point 41 percent market share in the firewall software category - an increase of nearly ten points over last year.

Check Point commands the clear market lead despite the fact that the findings are based on vendor revenue and do not account for the full sales revenue generated through Check Point's indirect sales channels. Vendors with direct sales can credit a higher or complete proportion of the total sales revenue they generate.

Check Point's flagship FireWall-1 enterprise security software is a key component of the company's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture - the comprehensive platform for Internet security that integrates firewalls, VPNs, large-scale management and open integration with products from the more than 270 companies in Check Point's Open Platform for Security (OPSEC) partnership program.

"Once again, we see Check Point holding the strong leadership position in the firewall security software market," said Chris Christiansen, vice president of IDC's Internet Security and Infrastructure Software programs. "The firewall market, and the Internet security market as a whole, has tremendous growth potential, and Check Point is uniquely positioned to continue to capitalize on this growth."

"Check Point has both defined and led the firewall security market and built a unique value as a comprehensive platform for Internet security," said Jerry Ungerman, executive vice president for Check Point Software Technologies. "As customers increasingly utilize the Internet to communicate and conduct business, Check Point will continue to lead the way in providing the world-class security solutions required for success in this eBusiness era."
